I believe that knowing where you come from is an important piece to who you are. Those hundreds of people who were in the right place and time throughout history bring together the pieces of who are are. I can help you find those folks, connect you to the past and bring your personal history alive.

My connection to my family history started with the knowledge of my father's family, going six generations back to my German immigrant ancestor, Ignatius Schutte. As I got older, I realized there was more to know -- and I wanted to know more. My research took me through my mother’s family history, which dives so much deeper into Colonial Virginia than I ever suspected. I know now that I have deep Appalachian roots, too. And I have New England roots, including roots in Salem, Massachusetts during the Witch Trials. I have loved all these discoveries.
